Christmas Baking Time

It's time for some yummy Christmas treats to be around the house. Today I got busy and made sugared almonds, Chocolate Caramel candy and chocolate almond truffles.

Here are the sugared almonds cooking away. Mari posted this recipe on her blog so I decided to try it. They have a bit too much ginger flavor for me so I would exclude that next time- still pretty good though:

Here are the steps for the chocolate caramel candy:
1st layer chocolate, butterscotch:

Then a marshmallow cream layer:

Next a caramel layer:

Last another chocolate layer:

I've posted this recipe here if you want to make these yourself!

The other thing I made today is chocolate almond truffles:

These are really yummy and easy:
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. cream cheese
1/2 tsp. almond flavoring

Mix all together and form balls. Roll in a combination of equal parts powdered sugar and cocoa. Refrigerate 1-2 hours.

YUMMY! I've tried those chocolate caramel bars before and they are amazing although I had a hard time cutting them - I must be weak! :)
