When Mama Aint Happy.....

You know the saying- When Mama ain't happy...ain't nobody happy!
Well if that's true then nobody's happy right now. I woke up this morning to a little surprise from Arianna.

Look at what she did!

She cut her hair! Look closely at the front- she cut a big section right down to the scalp.

This is a reminder of what her hair used to look like just 2 days ago!

I really felt like crying- it made me sick to my stomach. It took so long to get that hair grown out. When I was pleading for an answer as to why she did this she told me she didn't like it in her face.

She's very fortunate that I was able to move her part over so it's not really noticeable, but it's going to take forever to grow that back out.

The other frustration I have today is that our lovely govenor is signing a law today that all kids up to the age of 8 have to be back in a booster seat. That means Halle has to go back in a car seat for another 1 1/2 years. She was in tears this morning because she's a big girl and now she has to go back in that seat again.
I know a couple other moms who aren't happy about this either!! I know it's a safety issue for the kids so I'll do it, but I'm not thrilled about it.

OK- now I'm done venting, I'll try to be in a better mood tomorrow!!

Oh Anna! Why!! Why do kids do this kind of stuff to us and themselves.....

The car seat thing has me bummed. I know too that its a safety thing but Caleb will be so sad...

I'm getting sick of government telling us what to do. At least Shaelyn still sits in a car seat but this is getting ridiculous. I really am surprised any of us survived from the last 40 years without ANY car seats.
Anna, Anna, Anna - what can I say?

OH MY GRAVY! I would just die! Thank goodness she has such a beautiful face and can pull that look off!

The car seat thing is kinda crazy - i think it like 60 pounds here - at that rate Annie will be TEN!

I hope your day gets better!

Sweetie you just go right ahead and vent, vent vent!!! We're hear to hear you!!! I don't think I can put in words what I would have done if Bekah would come out and have done that! For starters I think I would be stuttering!!!!! I didn't know that about the law! Even though Bekahs almost 9 she is tiny, I wonder about that!

Oh my goodness! I am sorry she cut her hair! I am so happy that you are still able to make it look good! Why do kids have to do that?! I pray that Ruthie never does b/c it has taken her FOREVER to get a little bit of hair. I wouldn't know what to do! UGH on the new law.

Vent all you want hon!

Oh it is so upsetting isn't it? My daughter got a few inches off her hair last year but at the back and I was upset about that - at the front I'd be mortified. I did it myself aged 7, cut a chunk out of the fringe. No idea why I did it! It is hard when freedom is impinged, yet you have more freedom than us in New Zealand at this point, booster seats are required up to age 10 and they are trying to increase them to 12 (like the UK is now) - appreciate dangerous roads etc, plus we had a bill that was passed making smacking illegal last year - it is a punishable offence in any form now, so my eyes nearly fall out of my head when I read blogs talking about giving a child a spank etc, as even talking about it here let alone doing it would cause an upheaval big time. So hearing you loudly Cheri that's for sure, it's like the walls start to close in aye?

OMG!!!! I would have cried! I have never cut Brooklyn's hair short and its taken me 7 years to get it nice and long. I don't understand why kids think they need to cut their hair. I am so sorry and hopefully it will grow out soon!

Oh Anna! I can see why you were upset. At least she cut her own hair - remember when Laura cut mine? That didn't make me happy either!

Oh my goodness !! Her hair ! You know, my brother cut his hair once ... at school, on school photo day ! BEFORE the photos !! It's hilarious to look at those photos now !!!

I think the car seat thing is ridiculous ! It's like that here too. The kids have to be in them for EVER ! Such a bummer ! What a huge bummer for Halle to have to go back into a seat after having gotten out !!

Wow, I almost missed your post today. It didn't come up on my bloglines.
I saw all these comments and thought, "When did Cheri post this?" I guess I do live a long way from Michigan. LOL!

I hope that you feel better this evening! What a day you have had! Kids! Whatcha gonna do? Some day you will look back and laugh, maybe!

It's a dark day in Allentown for all the little kids! Booster seats! Boo!

Oh my goodness! I can't believe she cut so much! I don't think I would have been in a coherent state at that point. At least it grows back out right - it's not permanent...

Oh No!

You need to find my old post "Boy Meets Scissors" That'll bring a smile to your face. Madden not only cut his hair but his eyelashes too!

Yikes, is that only where you are at or does that go into effect in Florida too? That means I would need 5 carseats for my family!

I totally feel for you! Mikayla had her first hair cut when she was 3 1/2. As if that wasn't hard enough for me, she decided to recut it the very next day. She said "I was just trying to be like the hair cut lady!" You did very well by holding back your tears. I was bawling like a baby and couldn't even talk to Mikayla. I had to get Chad to talk to her!

Oh Cheri, may God pour out His perfect peace upon you. I do not like those days! Glad you could work it out though.

Oh and in our state, you have to be in a booster til you are like 4'9" some adults do not grow bigger than that.
Much love,
Ang

I totally understand why you were mad at the hair thing - I would be livid, but I think you should go have her picture made so that she can remember this someday (plus it might embarrass her enough that she would never place the scissors to her own hair again).

Oh my! I would be upset too!! I remember both of my daughters cutting their hair and I was not happy.

Once her hair grows out maybe you can promise her to go shopping for hair bands so that she won't get the urge to cut again.

I was so relieved when we were past the car seat & booster seat stage. Always such a hassle if the kids went with someone else. I imagine a lot of families will have to go out and buy new ones now.

I certainly understand the need to vent!

Oh my goodness...I think just about EVERY family has had at least one child do this...right? My youngest did it and had a cowlick for the longest time because of it...
