I'm sharing with you today my favorite soup ever!
I got this recipe from a co-worker years ago and have been enjoying it for over 15 years now. Even if you're not a huge fan of broccoli- I urge you to try this one. I wasn't a huge fan of broccoli soup but this one is absolutely delicious. Mark had me enter it in a soup contest and it won 1st place. On a cold day with home made bread- there's nothing better! Enjoy-
Cheese Broccoli Soup:
6 c. water
10 oz. frozen brocolli- chopped
3/4 c. finely chopped onion
2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon accent seasoning
1 teaspoon pepper (I use a little less)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
8 oz. american cheese
2 c. half and half
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. COLD water
1/3 c. flour
Bring water to boil. Add brocolli and onion and boil 10-12 minutes. Add seasonings, and cheese. Stir until cheese melts. Add cream and butter. Stir and heat to boiling. Slowly add water to flour stirring until smooth. Add this to the hot soup mixture stirring rapidly. Cook and stir soup until it has the consistency of heavy cream.

If it's as good as Mari's chicken and wild rice soup I'm hookin' up with you guys for my weekly menus!
I haven't made this because the broccoli scares me!! WHat contest did you win - I vaguely remember that.

That souds delicious! I will make it soon. Thanks!
We'll have to try this one!! We all love cheese broccoli soup! Mike usually makes it for us (maybe once or twice a year) and it's always very good! We should have it more often though.
I LOVE cheese broccoli soup. Sometimes in the winter we'll have a can of regular soup for "dinner" and then a can of cheese broccoli for "dessert!" :)
I've got this on my recipe list to make in the next week or two. Chelsea and Shaelyn can't wait. It's so good!
I LOVE soup in the fall and winter! Anything cheesy and creamy is my fave!
This sounds good to have on a blustery day. I may just have to try it out...
Cheri,
Dumb question. What type of American cheese? The slices or in a jar?
Ignorant cook!!!
Kim,
It's american cheese slices.

That doesn't sound too difficult. I'll give it a try and let you know. Thanks.
