Mark and I spent a good deal of the day comparison shopping between 3 stores.
Since my store that I used to go to is closing I wanted to check my options.
We went to Walmart, Meijer and Aldi. I was really surprised with the results between Walmart and Meijer. Here's the breakdown:
Savings going to Walmart over Meijer- $9.44
Savings going to Aldi over Walmart- $12.59
Savings going to Aldi over Meijer - $ 22.03
There were just a couple things that Aldi didn't carry so I put in the largest cost since I'd have to go somewhere else.
This makes my choice pretty clear- Aldi is in my future for groceries!

Amazing isn't it. I have friend whose cousin worked at the production place and she said that she was working the lines and the food was the same and it would just go to different areas to have different labels put on the products to the different stores. We now do all of our shopping their and what we cannot get we get at meijer. Happy shopping!!
WOW that was alot of work! I like Aldi's alot. I've never done most of my shopping there, but that comparison really says alot!
Wow - that's a big difference! Maybe we need to include shopping at Aldi's on our Fridays!
That was a lot of work but great to know.. I do wish we had an aldi's near us. We shop Walmart most of the time because they are always lower than Meijer.
We switched from FamFare to Meijers when Alicia and Alfred were around and it made a dent in our bill. Now that it is just the two of us we are back at FF.
I wish we had a nice Walmart close by. I would go there in a heartbeat. Do you go all they way to Holland? Maybe it's not that far for you. Grville doesn't have as much and hitting three different stores doesn't seem like a huge saving to me. We go there for my non edibles and it's way cheaper.
We do the majority of our shopping at Aldi, and everything we can't get there we usually get at Meijer. Mike's mom shops at Walmart a lot.
I'm curious though, which store is closing?
Yup - I like Aldi's too and they really are fast going through the checkout (even with long lines)
i like aldi's but it can be scary!
i must admit i am sorta laughing... i'm just picturing you and uncle mark walking through all these stores w/ a list in your hand like dectectives... and its slightly amusing to me ;)
but i am glad somebody did this work...i always wondered how it compars :)

that's just too much to read!
