Now I thought the liberals were all about choice? Why does the choice the Jonas Brothers (and many others) make for their own personal self seem to be so disturbing to the liberals.
Here's what a person involved in the purity ring movement said:
“Are we so threatened by a message of morals and values that these young men who chose to wear a ring were attacked?” asked Pattyn, the founder of a program called the Silver Ring Thing, in which teens pledge to remain virgins until marriage. “What’s the fear here? Why can’t we have an alternate message about waiting until you’re married to have sex? Why can’t we have those values? What are we afraid of?”
Jordin Sparks (winner of American Idol) had a really good comeback when she got on stage next after he made his comments. I won't repeat them but she had her own purity ring on defended her decision very well I thought!

I think those rings are an awesome idea! Tori wants one too and how can a parent ever say no to that!?
It's not choice they want, it is to do whatever they want and they don't want to be reminded that their decisions are bad!
I agree with you, Cheri! I didn't see any of this but I am not surprised.
i think that it is horrible that mtv let this happen. i think that i blame them for being irresponsible for not stopping the guy from making the comment - i'm sure they had to approve his "jokes". my church had a silver ring thing recently and they had a huge turnout! i think that there was a few good things that did come out of it: it has brought it to the forefront - the jonas brothers have made a rebuttal and said that it didn't embarrass them - other celebrities are defending the purity issue - and lastly one the site where i read the story, most of the people who commented on it were in support of the jonas brothers and the purity issue :) it's nice to know that there are people with good morals and values left!
They're just scared of what our values are. It's also like we can't say anything bad about any religion but Christianity. I want to know what Jordan Sparks said.
It's like they are afraid of what others really know as truth. I love the idea of purity rings.
It really irritates me that people can't make personal choices about something without being mocked. I mean really....
I think it's a great idea and as young teenage boys, I find it very sweet that they've chosen to go with the purity rings.
As a matter of fact I only wish more young kids nowadays would do the same.
I didn't watch it either, but I did hear about it and was very annoyed by it. I think purity rings are a great idea!
For some reason, freedom of expression is only tolerated when it is from a liberal viewpoint. I didn't hear about this, but it's sad that they picked on those guys.
It's just ridiculous.
Oh, how I pray that the boys will commit to staying pure til they're married. The reward is just magnificent.
