We still had electricity so I assumed we hadn't been hit, but I wasn't sure because something had just been hit. I started looking out all my windows and even quick ran outside to check out the outside of the house, because if we had been hit I always want the fire department to check it out in case my attic is burning.
I didn't find anything, so I just watched and waited out the storm. I found out the next day that it was my neighbor that got hit. She said it sounded like a nuclear bomb went off and I agree seeing as my house shook and all- actually later that afternoon, the whole shelf fell off the wall because it had gotten loose from earlier.
So I was relieved that we got by that time with nothing serious, but my nervousness was again raised Saturday night, when more severe storms came through.
Here is what the sky looked like before it got bad:
It was quite the storm! I believe they said about 40,000 hits of lightning were recorded last night. I read today that a 1 person was killed yesterday and 1 this afternoon when trees fell on their cars.
It's supposed to be bad weather again tonight and tomorrow afternoon. I'll be glad when things calm down a bit again!

That is scary! Why is lightning hitting around you? Are you near water? That is scary stuff? We always unplug the computers when a storm comes up, but nothing close by has ever been hit. I am thankful because lightning is, can we all say, SCARY?
Wow, you must live in a spot the lightening likes, I would get edgy too. I like a good thunder storm but not the kind we have been having lately.. It has been crazy.
It sure has been wild. 2 people were also killed when they drove into water on the road, but it turned out the road was washed out.
I'm done with this rain!! Just wait until August and we're experiencing drought weather - you know it will happen!
We had a transformer once get hit and lost power for about a week. That was awful as we have well water.
I will nervous about the storms, too, and the possibility of no electric. Thankfully all is well at our house.
Heare more storms are on the way!
wow how scary! i hate thunder and lightning and am thankful we don't get it here to often :) glad to hear that it wasn't your house that got hit!
That sure was crazy. I don't think I've ever seen so much lightning in my life!
MOVE TO THE SOUTH - we have hurricanes and there's PLENTY of warning!
